U15 AA Pirates, U18 AA Foxes lead respective series heading into Game 2 of North Finals

Two local hockey clubs are taking 1-0 series leads into important games this weekend, all in an effort to make it to the provincial finals.

The U18AA Prince Albert Family Pizza Foxes won their first game against the Northwest Sharks 4-2 on Wednesday night. Rylee Jensen led the girls’ team in scoring with two goals, including the unassisted insurance goal of the game in the third period.

The two teams face off for Game 2 at Kinsmen Arena on Saturday at 4:45 p.m.

The excitement will continue immediately after that game, when the U15AA Prince Albert Venice House Pirates welcome the Warman Wildcats to the Kinsmen for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.

The Pirates defeated the Wildcats in Game 1 on Thursday night in Warman. Caleb Philp led the team in scoring with five goals and one assist, while Jordan Labelle saw the back of the net twice and added three assists. Liam Bergen saved 37 of 41 shots he faced between the pipes.

The Warman Wildcats let the North Division standings during the regular season. Wildcats forward Jesse Scriven led the team and the league with 96 points. Philp and Labelle finished amongst the top five in scoring, with 73 and 71 points respectively.
