Prince Albert house fire claims life of one man, senior survives

A 53-year-old man died in hospital while an 87-year-old woman survived a house fire in Prince Albert’s West Flat on March 7.  

Prince Albert’s fire department and police were called to the burning home in the 1900 block of 13th Street West around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

Firefighters learned that a man was trapped in the basement. Despite being found and taken to Victoria Hospital by ambulance, he later passed away.  

An 87-year-old woman was also in the home when it caught fire, but managed to escape before police arrived. She was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
