Nipawin man charged after guns, suspected cocaine seized
A 44-year-old man from Nipawin is facing a series of charges after RCMP found weapons and drugs in a home.
Police arrested John Fortin on Nov. 10 as part of an investigation by Prince Albert Crime Reduction Team.
A search of a residence in Nipawin resulted in the discovery of a loaded, banned handgun, a carbine rifle with no serial number and banned magazines, a rifle, a replica submachine gun, a conducted energy weapon and materials consistent with drug trafficking.
“This investigation determined drugs were being trafficked in the Nipawin, Tisdale, Melfort, Carrot River and surrounding area. It’s the result of inter-provincial collaboration and excellent work by our criminal analysts and investigators that we continue to identify sources of criminal activity and take enforcement action to help keep our communities safe,” said Cpl. Tyler Kerr of the RCMP’s Crime Reduction Team.
