East Hill stabbing suspect denied bail

Jul 31, 2025 | 3:41 PM

A man alleged to be responsible for a violent incident in Prince Albert’s East Hill area, where a young woman was attacked and stabbed over 20 times, has been denied bail.

Isaiah Peekeekoot, 18, appeared Thursday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

Due to the fact that the case could proceed to trial and be heard by a jury, a publication ban was placed on all the evidence heard during the half-hour-long hearing. This included the judge’s reasons for denying bail.

Peekeekoot, who was represented by a legal aid lawyer and supported in the courtroom gallery by multiple family members, was remanded to Aug. 13.

A statement provided earlier by police confirmed that on July 12, at approximately 11:50 p.m., officers were called to the area of 6th Ave. East and 28 Street East for a report of a physical altercation where a person had been stabbed.

Upon police arrival, officers located a 20-year-old woman suffering from injuries consistent with a stabbing. Parkland Ambulance also attended the scene and transported the woman to hospital for further medical treatment.

Her family members informed paNOW of her injuries and said she is back at home recovering.

Peekeekoot and Tyson Lachance, who are involved in a relationship, were arrested at a nearby residence and charged with aggravated assault.

Lachance was in court earlier this week and released on bail. His next court date is Aug. 5.
