Arrest made in landlord shooting incident

Jul 24, 2025 | 11:11 AM

A man alleged responsible for shooting a Prince Albert landlord in the throat said nothing when he appeared in court Thursday morning.

In connection to the events that occurred in June at a property in the city’s west flat, 24-year-old Preston Bird is facing a number of charges, including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, discharging a firearm with intent to injure, and possession of an unauthorized firearm.

According to a statement provided by the Prince Albert Police Service, Bird was arrested on Wednesday in the 800 Block of 15th St. E.

Due to the fact that the offence occurred during an eviction gone bad, the story grabbed provincial attention and shone a spotlight on the issues landlords in the city are facing.
