Alleged drunk driver collides with power pole

The actions of a driver sparked a great deal of curiosity Tuesday night in Prince Albert’s East Hill area.

A 25-year-old woman is alleged to have been impaired when she crashed into a power pole and then attempted to run from the scene.

The crash occurred at approximately 9:10 p.m. Police were called to the unit block of 31st Street East for a motor vehicle collision.

The driver was located soon after and arrested. She was found to have a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit. She’ll make her first court appearance on June 25.

The force from the impact moved the large pole but did not result in a power outage.

According to the city’s crime statistics, there were 23 incidents related to impaired driving between January and up until the end of April. This was down from 28 for the same period last year.
