It is a universally known truth that there are few things in life as fine as a fresh, garden raised tomato; that it is a delicacy to have locally grown, grass-fed beef.
These are wonderful treats to have – rare, in fact – in spite of the fact that we live in an agricultural based province.
This is the reason why Farmer’s Markets are so popular, to suit the needs of people who want to buy locally grown, freshly produced, grass fed or vine ripened food. Increasingly this is the case.
There is a group of like-minded people thinking about, maybe, perhaps, exploring the idea of creating a cooperative organization that would open a small grocery store in Prince Albert’s downtown that would be supplied by local producers of beef, pork, bison, vegetables and so on. The thinking is that it would be wonderful to be able to grocery shop for locally produced … produce – without running to several different locations and to be able to shop during daily business hours as opposed to only one or two days a week. For producers, having such a store would be much more convenient way of selling their wares than standing at a booth for several hours per week.
