Abrametz said the decision behind the name was to match with the Warman High School.

“We are uniting the city of Warman High School, the community and the junior hockey program under one name, and that is the Worman Wolverine…it’s (the logo) a side profile of a Wolverine similar to the high school, but not the same, so it’s unique,” he said.

Abrametz added that the colour red was also chosen to honour the Notre Dame Hounds.

“We wanted to make sure that there was some red in the logo and to pay tribute to the Notre Dame Hounds legacy and their franchise,” said Abrametz.

The Wolverines also announced recently that Head Coach and General Manager of the Notre Dame Hounds, Brett Pilkington will be keeping his position for the rebrand and relocation to Warman.
