Best Property Management: Companion Property Management
Companion Property Management, based in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, has recently earned the Prince Albert B.O.B. (Best of the Best) Award for Property Management. This achievement is a testament to the company’s commitment to mutual benefit, long-term thinking, and transparency—values that define Companion’s approach to caring for both people and properties.
Founded by owner and managing broker Zachary Case, Companion Property Management began as a simple favour to his family. In 2020, Zachary started collecting rent, bookkeeping, and placing tenants for a family member’s multi-family property in Prince Albert. Word of his good results spread quickly, and more relatives asked if he could manage their rentals too. The success and positive feedback motivated him to take the necessary courses and become registered with the Saskatchewan Real Estate Commission (SREC), and on August 10, 2023, he officially opened his own brokerage —Companion Property Management.
Zachary is engaged to Shendaia Benson, a local realtor who he plans to marry in April 2025. They call Prince Albert home and share a vision of providing great places to live for their community. “Companion” as a brand name was inspired by a conversation Zachary had with his sister, Bronwyn, who was considering the name for her bakery. Drawn to its Latin roots ‘companionem’, meaning “one who shares bread”—Zachary found it perfectly captured his philosophy on collaboration and shared benefit. That ethos now drives every facet of Companion Property Management.
At Companion, a home is more than just a property; it’s a place where residents, owners, and managers can all flourish together. “When one benefits, everyone benefits” is not just a motto—it is the company’s guiding principle. Whether it’s finding and screening conscientious tenants, working with owners who value long-term returns, or maintaining a high standard of care, Companion aims to create a virtuous cycle. Great properties attract great tenants, who take great care of their homes, generating consistent income and appreciation for owners.
By acting as a professional, trusted third party, Companion creates respectful distance between owners and tenants and mediates the relationship. The goal is to ensure that both parties benefit; owners protect their investments while tenants receive well-maintained homes that they can enjoy. This balance helps maintain the property’s value, reduces turnover, and positions it for long-term appreciation.
Real estate wealth, as Zachary believes, is built over decades. Companion manages each property with this principle in mind, working to keep it at its highest and best use. By reducing turnover and prioritizing upkeep, the company ensures that owners can sell a property (should they ever choose to) with the confidence that it’s in excellent shape and primed for a strong market value.
With its recent B.O.B. Award, Companion Property Management has solidified its position as a trusted leader in Prince Albert. Looking ahead, Zachary and his team plan to continue their mission of delivering the best homes to residents and helping landlords achieve long-term success—always guided by their core values of mutual benefit, long-term thinking, and transparency.
