FSIN Chief candidates announced

First Nations people in Saskatchewan will elect a new Chief during the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nation’s (FSIN) fall legislative assembly on Oct. 28 and 29.

The candidates for Chief are: Helen Ben from Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation, Bobby Cameron from Witchekan Lake First Nation, and Leo Omani from Wahpeton Dakota First Nation.

The office of First Vice-Chief will be acclaimed by current FSIN Interim Chief Kimberly Jonathan

Dutch Lerat will be acclaimed 3rd Vice-Chief.

A by-election for 2nd Vice Chief will also take place during the fall assembly.

Former FSIN Chief Perry Bellegarde resigned last December after he was elected Chief of the National Assembly of First Nations.

The FSIN legislative assembly will be held in Saskatoon.
