Imagine what would happen if a historical Canadian figure was brought back to life and how would they interact with today’s youth.

That’s the plot behind Nobody Asked for Vincent Massey: The Musical. The show runs Wednesday night at Vincent Massey School and starts at 6 p.m.

Director Scott Roos told paNOW the school has not done a musical since 2009 and the kids have been rehearsing since last November.

Vincent Massey was the first Canadian-born governor general, serving from 1952 to 1959. Known for supporting Canadian unity and culture, he established the Governor General’s Awards for Architecture.

The grand opening of the school in Prince Albert was held in October, 2005.

Grade 6 student Milion Kiflay is performing in his first play and portraying the title character.

“It was fun, exciting and I got to meet new people,” he said, adding his favourite part about acting was the accent and the snobbiness.

“Because it’s fun playing a different role that you’re not set to be like. It feels different.”

The entry fee at the door will be by donation.
