Celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day in Prince Albert
The city of Prince Albert is celebrating June 21 – National Indigenous Peoples Day with a series of events starting in Memorial Square at city hall.
Celebrations will begin with a pipe ceremony at 9 a.m. Prince Albert’s Rebecca Strong, who recently won Canada’s Got Talent, will be performing in front of city hall at 10:45 a.m. She will be accepting donations for the Prince Albert Grand Council’s ‘Tiny Home Project’ for the homeless.
A ‘Unity Walk’ will start at 11:00 a.m. going from city hall to the main stage at Kinsmen Park which will lead directly into the opening ceremonies at noon. Afterwards, the ‘Villages’ will open with a number of activities happening throughout the day including Trapper events, traditional storytelling and crafts, moose hide scraping, medicine teaching, bouncy councils and entertainment. Free hamburgers and hot dogs will be offered.
