Canadian legends to headline EA Rawlinson Centre’s upcoming season

A massive lineup has been announced for the next season at the EA Rawlinson Centre for the Arts.

And the 21 shows include Canadian legends Jann Arden, Colin James, Susan Aglukark and Matthew Good.

There’s also Scottish rock band Skerryvore which comes with bag pipes and guitars, live theatre including an indigenous adaption of William Shakespeare’s MacBeth, and there’s a circus type act called Barka that the whole family can enjoy. The facility’s General Manager Roxanne Dicke explained when planning for a season, she strives to look for diversity.

“We’ve got people in town that really enjoy coming out for live theatre, we’ve got people that love classical music, and we’ve got people that wanna see something different,” she noted.

When asked if there was a specific act that stood out for her, Dicke noted she’s been working for several years to get Pawakan Macbeth, which promises to be a very powerful and emotional show.

And no season would be quite the same without showcasing local talent. Donny Parenteau’s “Colours of the Sash” takes the stage on Sept. 18; Josh Stumpf will perform on Mar. 28; and LJ Tyson’s band Former Lovers will perform on Jan. 31. Tyson, who helped warm up the crowd for Wednesday night’s launch party, loves performing at the Rawlinson Centre.

“I’ve been getting the opportunity to perform on that stage since I was young during Search for the Stars so to be able to come back here and share the art that me and and my friends have created together, feels a little like full circle,” Tyson said.

The fall’s lineup also includes Broadway North’s adaptation of the Wizard of the Oz (August) and Broadway North Junior’s production of Willy Wonka Jr.

For every seat sold, the Malcolm Jenkins Family Foundation is donating $20 to the planned 12 room Ronald McDonald House in Prince Albert. The offer ends on June 29. Dicke explained it doesn’t matter whether you buy an expensive ticket or an inexpensive one, it’s all going to help the same great cause.

Tickets for the 2024-2025 season are available now through the centre’s website.

Patrons can save money by building a season (Picking 6 or 10 shows) or choosing to attend all 21 shows in the season and receiving a discount when they buy all at once. There are two show packages: an 18-show Series and a 3-premier Show Series.
