New directors elected to Prince Albert Chamber board

The Prince Albert and District Chamber of Commerce is welcoming a fresh perspective to its board with the addition of two new directors.

Brett Wells and Marlene Goldberg were each elected for a two year term.

Wells was born in Prince Albert and has over a decade of experience in business covering sales, marketing, consumer goods, and real estate. A news release from the Chamber said Wells has been a pioneer in Canada’s cannabis industry and in 2023 was named as the ’30 and under’ award winner for business leadership in Canada.

Goldberg was born and raised in Prince Albert and is a Relationship Manager with RBC. She sits on the Ronald McDonald House Charities committee. She was described as someone who believes in the power of building relationships and loves supporting businesses large and small to help them thrive and grow. Her passion and drive were exemplified when she received the Community Leadership Award with RBC in 2023.

Prince Albert and District Chamber of Commerce CEO Patty Hughes said, “We had an excellent slate of candidates who let their name stand for the Chamber board. I was very pleased with the high number of members who cast their vote to select four of the six candidates. The Chamber board is an excellent representation of our business community. We have a great mixture and skill set that truly reflects our business community. We are seeing a strong engagement from our younger business owners to be involved. I look forward to working with the newly elected board members in the coming year.”

Incumbents Kamal Singh and Brooke Wozniak were re-elected.

Singh is an Indian-Canadian restaurant owner who offers a unique blend of service industry expertise, cultural diversity and community involvement. The Chamber said he represents not only the growing service sector but also bridges diverse communities, enhancing the Chamber’s mission to cultivate a vibrant, inclusive environment in Prince Albert.

Wozniak opened her first business, a dance studio, 10 years ago, helping to foster a love of the arts in many across the city. She is currently a realtor and said the career has allowed her to give back to the community in many ways. She has future ideas on how business can further benefit from the new Chamber headquarters space and is looking forward to seeing it help grow business in P.A. even more.

There were six contenders running to fill four vacancies, with the Chamber membership casting votes electronically throughout the month of May. The positions will become effective at the annual general meeting on Sept. 25.
