The Mann-Northway Northern Bears are coming home from the Battlefords with one win following their final weekend doubleheader to wrap up the regular season.

The Northern Bears squared off with the Sharks in their final regular season contests that saw P.A. prevail 4-3 in game one and fall 8-1 in game two.

Following the weekend, Prince Albert finishes the season 6-18-3-3 (W-L-OTW-OTL) and enters the playoffs as the sixth seed, where they will meet the Notre Dame Hounds in the first round.

In game one of the weekend set, Kara Bergen got the Sharks on the board early in the first before Kinley Brassard and Zayda Summach lit the lamp back-to-back for P.A. to head into the second up 2-1.

It didn’t take long for the Battlefords to tie up the game as Sophie Brecht managed to make it two all just over five minutes in. Elizabeth Udell would put the Bears back in front with her mid-period marker but the pressing Sharks would have an answer as Aidyn Konechny scored with 1:03 remaining in the period.

Entering the final frame tied 3-3, the Bears would once again put themselves on top with Summach’s second of the night. P.A.’s defence would stand tall for the remainder of the game as the Northern Bears took it 4-3.

Nikita Krayetski made 30 saves between the pipes for Prince Albert while Mackenzie Seth had 28 stops and was handed the loss.
