Stubborn winter temperatures not ready to leave

Apr 10, 2013 | 4:58 PM

Spring temperatures in Prince Albert and area are not here to stay.

With more snow expected in the forecast, a low pressure system coming from Alberta is expected to bring one to five centimetres for Prince Albert and area.

CKBI Radio meteorologist, Henri Dagenais, said there will be no warming up in the long range.

“The arctic air, being heavier and denser, is hard to move and she seems to want to stay over us for at least the next five or six days,” Dagenais explained.

The average high for this time of year is 7 C, which the area is well below. Overnight lows are -3 C which we are currently averaging.

For the southern areas of the province, Dagenais said warmer temperatures are expected for the Saskatoon and Regina regions.

“There is a possibility of freezing rain for tomorrow.”

“There is also the possibility in the further south that the temperature at the surface will be warm enough where it’s only going to be rain.”
