Raiders look to get back to .500 against Tigers

The Prince Albert Raiders (24-25-1-3) are in Southern Alberta for the final time this season, kicking off a quick two-game swing in Medicine Hat to face the Tigers (32-17-3-1) at Co-op Place.

The Raiders are coming back from a five-day break following their last game on Saturday at the Art Hauser Centre, which was a dominant 7-3 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings. The club has also seen success as of late, having three wins in their last five games which include triumphs over Lethbridge and Friday’s opponent Medicine Hat.

Prince Albert sits just one game below .500 and look to get back to an even record against a surging Tigers squad. Medicine Hat enters the contest with back-to-back wins under their belt, which features identical 5-4 victories over Red Deer and Regina. The Tigers have been one of the better teams in the league this season as they have led the Central Division all year while also remaining among the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

Medicine Hat and Prince Albert have met twice already this season with either team prevailing once. The Tigers won the first matchup 6-2 at Co-op Place back on Dec. 2 while the Raiders returned the favour at the Art Hauser Centre winning 3-2 not too long ago on Feb. 3.

Who to Watch

Polish import Krzysztof Macias earned first-star honours during the Raiders win over Brandon on Saturday, netting a pair of goals while tacking on an assist. The 19-year-old has impressed through the first 50 games of his rookie campaign, tallying 18 goals and 11 assists which ranks him 16th among rookies this season.

Veteran Sloan Stanick also was given honours during Saturday’s win, earning the third star with two goals and an assist. The pride of Rapid City, Man. continues to lead the Raiders in the points department this season as he nears the 70-point mark for the first time in his career. The 20-year-old currently sits at 67 points, which is a career-high, and stands just 10 points away from 200 in his career and four away from 170 points in the Green and Gold.
