Agnieszka Macias and her husband Marcin got to see one last special moment during their visit to Prince Albert.

The Polish parents have been in P.A. for the last several days watching their son Krzysztof Macias play for the Prince Albert Raiders. Macias was able to score a goal in front of his parents Saturday night as the Raiders defeated the Brandon Wheat Kings at the Art Hauser Centre.

“I’ve been waiting for this goal since I came here, so it’s so nice,” said Agnieszka Macias, who is an English teacher back in Poland. “I asked him for one goal for his mommy and he did it today so I’m so proud of him…he made my day.”

The couple arrived in Prince Albert earlier this month. It was their first visit to North America.

“It’s been wonderful and awesome. I love the hospitality of Canadians,” said Agnieszka Macias. “I even got some gifts from people from the local community…it’s just wonderful really.”

She added Krzysztof and his older brother played in Czechia when they were younger, so she was used to him being away from home.

“When we learned he was drafted to Canada, we didn’t have to think long. It was a chance for him and we were just proud,” she said. “I knew that the distance was bigger. And then I learned what kind of family he was staying with, so it’s just wonderful.”

Finally, Agnieszka is sending good vibes the Raiders way as she gets set to head back to Europe.

“They are doing really good now, and I hope they will be in playoffs,” she said. “I keep my fingers crossed for them.”

Macias’ parents head back overseas on Thursday.
