Sharks Make a Splash at the Winter Solstice Swimming Meet in Regina

In a display of outstanding skill and remarkable progress, six talented swimmers from the Prince Albert Sharks Swim Club traveled to Regina to compete in the Winter Solstice Swimming Meet.

The Sharks contingent left an indelible mark on the competition, showcasing their dedication, resilience, and incredible results.

One standout swimmer, Jaxen S, demonstrated his prowess with an impressive showing in multiple events. Jaxen secured second place in both the 50 and 100 Breaststroke, a remarkable achievement highlighting his proficiency in these challenging disciplines. Additionally, he claimed third place in the 200-meter Individual Medley, fourth in the 100 meters Individual Medley, and a commendable seventh in the 50 meters Butterfly.

He also secured “A” times in the 50 & 100 meters Freestyle and 50 & 100 meters Breaststroke for 13-year-olds. Jamie C emerged as a force to be reckoned with, clinching first place in the 25 meters Butterfly and the 100 meters Individual Medley.

His remarkable performance continued with a fourth- place finish in the 100 Freestyle, seventh in the 50 Freestyle, and eighth in the 50 Backstroke.

What’s even more impressive is that Jamie achieved best personal times across all his events. Ethan E showcased his skills with a fifth-place finish in the 100 meters Individual Medley and solid performances in the 200 and 400 meters Freestyle.

Notably, Ethan achieved an “A” time in the 200 meters Freestyle, underscoring his dedication and improvement. Sophia W displayed her swimming prowess with a fourth-place finish in the 100 meters Individual Medley, fifth in the 100 meters Breaststroke, sixth in the 200 meters Breaststroke, seventh in the 50 Breaststroke, and a commendable seventh in the 400 meters Freestyle.

Her performance showcased her versatility and dedication to various swimming disciplines. Mikaela A stood out with best personal times in the 50 meters Backstroke, 100 meters Individual Medley, and 50 meters Freestyle.

Notably, she dropped an impressive 32 seconds in the 200 meters Freestyle, bringing her close to achieving an “A” time and qualifying for the Junior Provincial Championship scheduled for February 2024 in Moose Jaw.

Jackson M exhibited a strong performance in the 50 meters Butterfly & Backstroke, 100 meters Freestyle, and 50 meters Freestyle, showcasing his commitment to excellence.

Head Coach Hazem Hussein expressed his satisfaction with the Sharks’ performance, stating, “The swimmers demonstrated tremendous dedication and improvement at the Winter Solstice Swimming Meet. Their achievements reflect the hard work and commitment they’ve put into their training. We are proud of their results and look forward to continued success in the upcoming competitions.”
