Smile Cookies to benefit P.A. charity this week

A local charity will benefit from a big fundraiser and all you have to do is buy a cookie.

Earlier this week, Tim Horton’s launched the first-ever Holiday Smile Cookie Campaign with all sales of the cookies benefiting local charities and community groups.

This year, Hope’s Home in Prince Albert will receive funds from cookie sales which it will use to help with general operation costs.

The Prince Albert location operates an Early Learning and Child Care Centre.

Mickey MacGillivray, Provincial Fundraising Manager for Hope’s Home in Prince Albert said the owner of the local Tim Hortons approached her about being a part of the Smile Cookies.

“She reached out to me and said ‘We’re looking for a charity for this year’s brand new holiday campaign’, so we jumped on board.”

Funds from cookie sales will also help benefit Tim Hortons Foundation Camps. Other Saskatchewan charities that are a part of the Holiday Smile Cookie campaign are North East Outreach and Support Services, the Salvation Army, and the Battlefords District Food and Resource Centre.

McGillivray notes that they’ve put in their time to help make the smile cookies with help from Tim Hortons staff

“We’ve been sending staff and I’ve spent the last three mornings decorating cookies at all the Tim Hortons locations,” she said. “The staff there are so amazing, happy to have some help. It’s just been really fun to get out and be really a part of it. Not just get the money but we’re in there working and having fun with our staff.”

Holiday Smile Cookies can be purchased at local Tim Hortons from now until Nov. 19.
