Raiders look to bounce back on the road against Rebels

Oct 6, 2023 | 12:00 PM

The Prince Albert Raiders (2-3-0-0) are on the road in Alberta for the first time this season, taking on the Red Deer Rebels (1-2-0-0) at Peavey Mart Centrium.

The Raiders enter the game on a losing note, having dropped their last game at home on Tuesday against Edmonton, 3-0. The Rebels are also coming into tonight on a loss, falling 4-2 in a divisional clash versus Medicine Hat on Friday.

Rebels leading scorer and former Raider Carson Latimer got off to a roaring start in his first two games in Red Deer, scoring four points (2g, 2a) before his stick went silent and was held off the scoreboard on Tuesday. Newly-named Rebels Captain Kai Uchacz has a point in each of his first three games this season (2g, 1a) while also coming off his best season last year, where he netted 85 points in 68 games.

In last season’s contests between P.A. and Red Deer, the series was evenly split with each club winning two games at home against each other. Coming into Friday’s game, the Rebels have yet to win a game at home this season, while the Raiders are winless on the road.

Following tonight, the Raiders will have a quick turnaround as they will travel North to Alberta’s capital to face the Edmonton Oil Kings Saturday night at Rogers Place.

Who to Watch

Left-winger Ryder Ritchie currently sits atop the Raiders in scoring through the first five games. The Calgary native has five points in five appearances so far this season and he was held off the score sheet in two of those games. His five points this year have already helped him reach another milestone in his WHL career as he’s now amassed 60 career points.

Rookie Krzysztof Macias continues to turn heads through his first few games in the Green and Gold. The Polish import has a pair of goals and an assist to open the season. He was also named the third star for his performance against Edmonton during Tuesday’s loss.
