Boil water advisory for the La Ronge area

May 11, 2014 | 10:55 AM

There is a boil water advisory now in place in some areas of La Ronge.

Affected streets include La Ronge Ave West and all off-streets beginning at Hastings through McKenzie, Finlayson, McKay, Trembley, MacAuley, Irving, English, Brown, Nunn, Sanderson, and Charles.

A recent water main break means the safety of the town’s drinking water cannot be ensured at this time.

Residents must boil water for at least a minute at a rolling boil for drinking, cooking, washing fruit and vegetables, brushing their teeth, and making ice cubes.

Showering, bathing or washing using tap water should be fine for adults, adolescents and older children but swallowing must be avoided. People should only sponge bath their babies during the advisory to prevent them from swallowing any water droplets.

People are advised to talk to a doctor if they have severe cuts or rashes before using the water to bathe.

If anyone requires extra information they can contact the town at 306-425- 2066, Water Security Agency at 306- 953- 2296 or at 306- 441-5774 (Cell), and the Mamawetan Health Region at 306-425- 8550.
