Another trial confirmed in Byron Bear murder case
Based on the evidence heard during a preliminary inquiry hearing, a man facing a charge of second-degree murder has been formally committed to stand trial.
Kyle Angus Burns, one of five men charged in the death of Byron Bear, appeared in person Friday at provincial court when Judge Lubyk read his decision.
Both the reasons for the committal and the evidence presented during last month’s hearing are protected by a publication ban.
Trial dates won’t be set until a pre-trial hearing is held. The next scheduled round of these hearings at Court of King’s Bench is on Aug. 11 but it’s unlikely anything will be determined at that time.
