P.A. motorcross club to hold first race in more than a decade

Jul 21, 2023 | 12:00 PM

It has been 12 long years but the Prince Albert Dirt Riders are finally coming back to the race track this summer.

The club has not held a race since 2011 after the road leading into the track was flooded.

Before that, the Dirt Riders held many races and competitions but without a track,

“The track had died away and it came back in the early 2000s and it ran races on the provincial series until 2011,” said President of the club, Matt Fowler. “It wasn’t until roughly 2017 that the road went away, and we got the club going again.”

Now, local riders will have the chance to race at the Muskoday Motorcross Park on Aug. 5 and 6.

Fowler said the club has put in a lot of work to make this event possible.

“We’ve been doing a ton of work, it’s all volunteers,” he said. “Tuesday night, we try to have a club night where we all hang out and have a ride after work in the evenings and taking the small steps to get back to where we were 12 years ago.”

The competition, which will be a locally sponsored event, has limited entries available, with preference being given to members.

Those interested in the race or the club can visit the Prince Albert Dirt Riders Facebook page.
