EMU OR OSTRICH?

What’s up with the ‘emu’ near Emma Lake?

The mystery has been solved but one question remains, what is the name of the bushy bird near Emma Lake?

As you travel through Highway 263 approaching Emma Lake, you’ll notice a bush that kind of resembles a bird. Some drivers passing by thought it looked like an emu but one person thought it was an ostrich.

That person was Jody Sobush who decided to give the ostrich a beak and eyes. She had no idea it would become popular on social media and have a following.

On Wednesday afternoon, the SunnySide Bar posted a photo of the creation to Facebook in the hopes of tracking down the artist and the story behind it.

Since it went up, the post has garnered a lot of attention with others sharing their stories of seeing the funny bird en route to the community.

Sobush said she decorated the bush as a joke, to have a little fun as they were on their way to the lake.

As for what to name the ostrich or emu, some commentators on the post are weighing in with one person suggesting “Emma the Emu”.
