Five names running for Chief in Beardy’s and Okemasis elections

The nominations are in and the community of Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation now know who is on the ballot for this week’s election.

Five people are in the running for chief including current Chief Edwin Ananas. He will be challenged by Lorin Gardypie, Candace Scott, Jeremy Seeseequasis and Kevin Seeseequasis.

A total of 27 names have also been put on the ballot for six seats on council. Those include incumbents Mike Delano, Warren Seeseequasis, and Marie Neubuhr.

Voting takes place on March 31.
