Raiders host Warriors in final home game of the season

Mar 24, 2023 | 12:00 PM

The Prince Albert Raiders (27-36-3-0) get set to close out their season series with the Moose Jaw Warriors (40-23-0-3) in their final home game of the season at the Art Hauser Centre.

Prince Albert is back in action after spending their last few games in Manitoba, wrapping up the season series with both Brandon and Winnipeg. The Raiders were victorious against the Wheat Kings, winning 4-3 before falling in back-to-back games to the ICE 4-1, 6-1. P.A. has been on a downward trend towards the end of the season, only posting a 3-7-0-0 record in their last ten games with a 2-3-0-0 record in their last five.

Moose Jaw comes into the game on a high note, having defeated the ICE 6-4 in their last contest. The win helped the Warriors bounce back after falling to Regina 7-3 a few days before. Prior to the loss, Moose Jaw was on a tear winning four in a row while outscoring opponents 25-14 in those games. The Warriors are also 6-4-0-0 in their last ten.

P.A. trails in the season series 3-2 and will look to tie it up in their final meeting of the season. In their most recent meeting, Moose Jaw got the 5-3 win but the last time they met at the Art Hauser Centre, the Raiders ran away with a 5-2 victory.

Following tonight, the Green and Gold gear up to get right back at it tomorrow night when they wrap up the 2022-23 season in Regina against Connor Bedard and the Pats. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. inside the Brandt Centre.

A look into the Eastern Conference standings with two games remaining on the schedule.

Who to Watch

Veteran Landon Kosior surpassed the 60-point plateau for the first time in his career while on the Manitoba swing, doing so against the ICE on Saturday night. The assist was the blueliner’s seventh in as many games to keep him as the teams leader in points. The Regina product also leads the team in scoring against Moose Jaw, netting nine points (4g, 5a) in five games.

Captain Evan Herman has found a ton of success against the Warriors this season, averaging a point per game. Trailing only Kosior, the centerman has five points (1g, 4a) against Moose Jaw which includes a goal in their previous meeting earlier this month.

Winger Sloan Stanick continues to have a career season. The pride of Rapid City, Man., has scored a point in seven of his last eight games including a multi-goal performance last Friday against his hometown Wheat Kings. Over those seven games, the assistant captain has six goals and three assists.
