Police conducting investigation around McDonald Ave. and Branion Drive

Mar 23, 2023 | 5:03 PM

UPDATE: The situation officially ended shortly before 12:00 a.m. Police are still working in the area, however, the public is no longer being asked to stay away. Earlier in the night, police negotiators were heard repeatedly asking the suspect to come out peacefully. Officers also appeared to break the windows of the residence, while multiple loud bangs were heard which, according to police, were not gunshots.

We will have more details as they become available.

Prince Albert police said they are conducting a prolonged investigation around McDonald Avenue and Branion Drive.

Residents are asked to avoid the area at this time.

Police officers along with K9 and SWAT were on the scene on the road and a woman who lives in the area told paNOW that a man is believed to be barricaded inside a home.

paNOW has learned the man inside the home is Colton Lafond, who faces charges of robbery after an incident on Muskoday First Nation. He has been on bench warrant status for weeks since being released on bail last month.

More details will be released as soon as they are available.
