Another inmate dies at Sask. Pen.

The second inmate in three days has died at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary.

Corrections Canada reported today that Raymond Stonechild died on Thursday while serving an indeterminate sentence for sexual assault.

He had been incarcerated since Feb. 28, 2008.

Stonechild had been declared a dangerous offender in Regina Court of Queen’s Bench.

His is the second death in several days at the facility.

On Nov. 28, Brendan Lupkoski died while serving a three-year, eight-month prison sentence that started in February.

Saskatchewan law requires an inquest to be held when any person dies while in custody.

No date has been set as yet for either inquest.
