MEDICINE HAT, AB – After reaching the 50-career goal milestone earlier this week, Evan Herman hit another milestone on Sunday evening.

The Raider captain joined the 100-point club against Medicine Hat when he first scored late in the second period, then got an assist on one of Sloan Stanick’s two goals in the middle frame.

Along with Herman and Stanick, Cole Peardon also found twine while Stanick, Terrell Goldsmith, Brayden Dube, Ryder Ritchie, Landon Kosior, and Eric Johnston each collected assists.

Oasiz Wiesblatt opened the scoring for Medicine Hat while Dallon Melin scored the second goal. Bogdans Hodass and Brendan Lee were the lone assist getters in the contest for the Tigers.

Tikhon Chaika stood tall between the pipes for PA, stopping 20 of 22 shot to help PA improve to 10-13-2-0 on the campaign.

Beckett Langkow made 24 stops for the Tigers in the game where Medicine Hat now falls to 8-12-4-1 on the year.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE

Both teams had their fair share of scoring chances in the opening frame but neither of them could find the back of the net. The Raiders were leading the Tigers in shots after the first, 12-9.

The second period was a whole different game where there was a little bit of everything.

The period got started when the Tigers found a way past Chaika. Hodass connected with Wiesblatt on the powerplay to put Medicine Hat up early.

Tides shifted shortly after when Eric Johnston was hit from behind by a Hunter St. Martin. Hayden Pakkala stepped up to plate and dropped the gloves with St. Martin where the Raiders forward would dominate. Pakkala landed haymaker after haymaker on the struggling Tigers forward where he then finished off the fight with a vicious uppercut. Both players were given five each for fighting while St. Martin got an extra two for cross-checking.

The fight sparked some fire under the PA bench where they exploded for four goals in the second period.

Goldsmith’s shot from the point was tipped in front by Peardon and past Langkow for his second of the year and to tie the game up at one.

Minutes later, Stanick cleans up the rebound in front to give the Raiders the lead. Then just moments after, the Raiders stuck again. Captain Herman tipped another past Langkow to make it three unanswered goals for PA. In the dying minutes of the frame, the Raiders added another. Herman connected with Stanick who scored his second of the night. Herman’s assist was also an important one as it was his 100th career point in the WHL, all of which have been with the Raiders. PA led 4-1 going into the third.

Melin added one more in the third for the Tigers but the marker came too late as the Raiders take it 4-2.

The Raiders have a few days to breathe before heading east to Manitoba. They’ll kick off the second leg of this five-game road trip in Brandon against the Wheat Kings on Friday night.
