Beau “Lac” Funeral Home and Crematorium: Exceptional, Not Expensive

Nov 7, 2022 | 11:32 AM

Over the years, funerals and memorial customs have changed. Like any business, change has been inevitable in the funeral industry. Yet, Beau “Lac” Funeral Home and Crematorium has been able to modernize aspects of their services while still staying true to their roots by being exceptional – not expensive.

In 1994, Delores Beaulac opened a funeral home in Spiritwood, SK. In time, she expanded into neighbouring communities as residents began to hear about and experience the wonderful caring service that Beaulac’s reputation was built on. In 2013, Marianne and Travis Turcotte were welcomed into ownership and helped to spread that excellent level of service to Prince Albert. In 2017, Mark and Sheri Muir joined the team as business partners having had previous experience as owners of a full-service funeral home in southeastern Saskatchewan. That expertise also brought with it another opportunity to expand. Beau “Lac” Funeral Home and Crematorium added an intimate chapel to its Prince Albert location and funeral homes in Leask and Canwood. In the fall of 2020, they were honored to be asked to assist Lac La Ronge Funeral Home with any services and products they require to provide the best for families they serve in Northern Saskatchewan. The addition of a state-of-the-art, environmentally responsible crematorium in 2021 further enhanced the level of service provided to families ensuring loved ones never have to leave the funeral home’s care.

Co-owners, Marianne Turcotte and Mark Muir have been in the funeral service for a combined 53 years. In addition, they have nine fully licensed funeral director/embalmers, two certified funeral celebrants, a trained death and end of life doula, accomplished musicians, and many service specialists who assist families during their time of need.

“We offer superior service while remaining cost effective for the consumer. We are committed to work with families to ease both the emotional and financial stress that accompanies a loved ones passing,” said Turcotte.

To do so, Beau “Lac” Funeral Home and Crematorium offers unique and personalized services that deeply reflect your loved one, including, but not limited to, traditional casket burial, cremation, and celebrations of life. In addition, they assist families with the creation of meaningful eulogies, obituaries and memorial cards and provide support with the completion of after care documents and the designing of cemetery monuments. They carry an extensive selection of urns and memorial keepsake items. Plus, they make the hard task of planning a loved one’s funeral easier on families by offering pre-planning solutions.

“We choose to put our focus on caring for families, rather than the facility we do it in,” Turcotte added. “Our space is comfortable and inviting and less intimidating.”

In the spirit of supporting communities, they encourage families to use local facilities that hold special meaning to the family.

“This might include the church you were married in or the golf course that you enjoyed playing at or the theatre the children danced in.”

Being locally owned and operated has also allowed the funeral home to create a strong presence with the communities they service by maintaining a high level of involvement with local charities and special events. Team members are active volunteers of a diverse group of organizations so they are able to give back to the communities.

As a truly family owned and operated funeral home within an ever increasing corporatized and impersonal approach to funeral, memorial and cremation services, it is their absolute commitment to offer excellence in everything they do.

“Our difference of family service begins from the moment you call us. Those we serve become our friends, not a number.”

For the past two years Beau “Lac” Funeral Home and Crematorium has been voted the “Best of the Best” funeral home in Prince Albert. Two of their funeral directors have also received a BOB Award for the work they do.
