Sep 30, 2022 | 10:11 PM

MOOSE JAW, SK – The Prince Albert Raiders scored twice in the final ten minutes on Friday night, but the late effort came up just short as the Moose Jaw Warriors took the game 4-3 at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

The loss is the fourth consecutive to start the season for the Raiders after falling to the Winnipeg ICE 6-2 on Wednesday night.

There were some new faces on the bench for PA tonight. Last night, a late evening trade with the Winnipeg ICE sent Vladislav Shilo to Winnipeg and brought Alessandro Segafredo and Owen Boucher to the Raiders.

PA’s Landon Kosior lit the lamp twice in the game while Terrell Goldsmith scored the opening goal for the green and black. Meanwhile Evan Herman led the assists category by netting two helpers, while Dallyn Peekeekoot, Carson Latimer, and Sloan Stanick each got one.

Four different Moose Jaw players found twine in Friday’s contest, including, Eric Alarie, Maximus Wanner, Lynden Lakovic, and Jagger Firkus. Denton Mateychuk led the Warriors in assists with three while Brayden Yager had two and Firkus, Atley Calvert, and Riley Niven each had one.

The Raiders netminder had 29 saves in the game. PA now falls to 0-3-1-0 on the campaign.

Warriors goalie Connor Ungar stopped 18 of 21 shots as Moose Jaw improves to 2-1-0-0 on the season.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE

Prince Albert led Moose Jaw after the first period thanks to a Terrell Goldsmith point shot. The Fort St. James, BC product let a shot go from the blueline that went off a defender and past the Moose Jaw netminder to put the Raiders up 1-0 after one.

The tides changed quickly in the second period as the Warriors managed to put up three goals in the frame. Eric Alarie, Maximus Wanner, and Lynden Lakovic each found the back of the net for Moose Jaw giving them a 3-1 lead heading in to the third.

The Warriors added another one early in the third courtesy of Jagger Firkus, but not long after Landon Kosior netted his first of the year on the powerplay to make it a 4-2 contest.

The Raiders pulled Chaika late in the third for the man advantage and although they did score, they only scored once as the Moose Jaw Warriors escaped a late PA push with the 4-3 win.

A quick turnaround for the Raiders as they’re back at the Hauser tomorrow night for a date with the defending WHL champion, Edmonton Oil Kings.
