Parks manager aims to have Adventure Park completed by end of month

A project that’s guaranteed to bring a lot more traffic to Prince Albert’s Little Red River Park is quite literally coming together piece by piece.

During May’s ground breaking ceremony for the Rotary Adventure Park, it was announced construction was going to start that week and the estimated completion date was by the end of July.

However, over a week into August, there are currently just a few signs of the playground structures being assembled, as well as the accompanying zipline. Tim Yeaman, the city’s parks manager, advised in a statement they are still working hard to see the project reach the milestone of completion. He also explained they are proceeding with caution as they have hit some setbacks.

“However in speaking with the contractor from Canadian Recreation Solutions, he has indicated that with the nice weather over the next couple of weeks we should see a significant improvement in equipment build out and a change in the overall look of the site by the 18th of August working towards completion of the adventure park build out by Aug. 31,” he said.

Yeaman added that upon the completion of construction, the city will be looking at completing any third party safety inspections of the equipment install. Crews will also be working to lay out pathways and lighting, along with the camp kitchen renovations and a few other smaller components.

The finished park project will include zip lines, swings, and two additional play structures. There will also be added picnic sites, benches, and a shelter along with expanded walking trails to provide activities for toddlers, as well as adults and seniors.
