Body of missing boater on Dore Lake found more than a week after falling into water

The body of a missing 28-year-old man has been found more than a week after falling off a boat on Dore Lake.

Austin Bomok, a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, was spending time with his family when he abruptly fell into the water. His cousin reportedly jumped in after him but was unable to find him.

Saskatchewan RCMP was called to the lake, but their underwater recovery team was unable to deploy as soon as he went missing as they didn’t have enough members present.

Lloydminster’s Rescue Squad and the Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team (HEART) from Manitoba ended up helping early on during the search.

A family member of Bomok claims a plane flying over the lake spotted his body on the shore after more than a week of searching. RCMP later confirmed Bomok was found late Saturday afternoon.

A GoFundMe has been set up for his family. Originally, it was supposed to help cover costs with the search. As of Monday afternoon, over $13,000 had been donated.
