Raiders players invited to NHL Development Camps

Jul 10, 2022 | 12:00 PM

They may not have been drafted, but two members of the Prince Albert Raiders will be hitting the ice with an NHL team.

Trevor Thurston was one of many invitees to the Calgary Flames Development Camp. Four goalies, 15 defencemen, and 24 forwards will participate in the camp which starts on Tuesday.

Thurston spent the majority of his WHL career with the Lethbridge Hurricanes but joined the Raiders following a New Year’s Eve trade that sent Tyson Laventure and Ross Stanley to Lethbridge.

In 22 games with the Raiders last season, Thurston had one goal and two assists while racking up 49 penalty minutes.

Meanwhile, Landon Kosier was given an invite to the Los Angeles Kings Development Camp.

Kosior had 18 goals in 68 games this past season and notched one goal in the playoffs.

Unfortunately, no current members of the Raiders organization were selected in this year’s draft, breaking a streak that lasted for the past 11 years.
