St. Mary set two records in same race for second straight week; Districts wrap up
St. Mary’s teammates and longtime friends Chris Woods and Austin Strauss continue to dominate the Junior Boys 400m race.
For the second week in a row, the Marauders duo both broke records in the same race. They both beat North Central District meet record of 53.94 seconds Thursday at Prime Minister's Park, originally set by Derek Osolinsky’s in 2002.
Woods got the gold with a 52.67 time, just a fraction faster than Strauss’ 52.71.
At the Prince Albert City High School Track and Field Meet last week, Strauss brought home the first place ribbon with a time of 52.54, edging out Woods (53.06) while both broke records. Strauss was able to make a pass in the last 15 minutes to narrowly finish ahead of Woods. But Thursday at districts, Woods was able to hold on by just a thread.
