Provincial 55+ games to finally resume in P.A. after 2-year delay

May 26, 2022 | 11:05 AM

Two years after its beginning, the Saskatchewan Senior Fitness Association 55+ Games will finally be completed in Prince Albert this spring.

The 55+ Provincials Games will play out its remaining 10 events June 14–16 across the city, welcoming around 530 competitors from across the province.

The 55+ Games were able to complete its curling event in 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic forced events to shut down. The cribbage, eight-ball pool, five-pin bowling, golf, kaiser, pickle ball, poetry and short story writing, slo-pitch, swimming, and track and field will all be played this year. Contract Bridge, darts, and shuffleboard were all cancelled due to low entries.

The opening ceremonies will be at 7 p.m. at the Art Hauser Centre. Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan Russ Mirasty will be one of the event’s dignitaries.
