Prince Albert powerlifter wins silver at nationals

Prince Albert’s Rob Lepine made no qualms about his plan to kiss the cod as a way to celebrate his accomplishment Tuesday.

The 47-year-old won silver at the 2022 Canadian powerlifting union national championship, held in St John’s, Newfoundland. Lepine was competing in the Master’s 1 weight class (120 kg).

“I’ve been in the strength sport game since 2007, and at 47, although I wish I had this mindset when I first started, it’s all about lifting my lifts, building momentum and stacking up wins,” Lepine told paNOW.

Lepine finished the day with a 282.5 kg squat and deadlift (629 lbs) and a 195 kg bench (429.9 lbs) – a pr total of 17.5 kg from his last competition in December.
