Raiders looking to make it a streak in big game against the Hurricanes

Mar 8, 2022 | 12:00 PM

The playoff-mode Prince Albert Raiders are looking to win their third straight game on Tuesday as they take on the Lethbridge Hurricanes at 7 p.m. at the Art Hauser Centre.

The game could turn out to be quite important by the end of the season for both clubs, as the Hurricanes are currently in seventh place with 49 points through 51 games. The Raiders are in 10th place, but just four points back of the Hurricanes (but have played one more game). The Raiders are also two points back of both the Calgary Hitmen and the Swift Current Broncos, who are both tied for the eighth and final playoff spot in the WHL Eastern Conference.

Head-to-head

The Raiders have won the last two meetings against the Hurricanes, 3-2 on Feb. 12 and 5-1 on Jan. 14. The Hurricanes won the first game between the two sides back on Oct. 23.

Evan Herman leads the Raiders in the season series with three goals and an assist in three games, with Sloan Stanick scoring twice and adding two assists.

Hurricanes forward Tyson Laventure has a goal and an assist against his former club.

Hall the offence

Justin Hall has a goal and an assist against the Raiders in three games this year, but has put together a huge season so far for the Hurricanes as their main offensive threat. Hall has 29 goals and 55 points this season. Hall has scored four different hat tricks this season, most recently with a 5-goal performance on Feb. 26 against the Medicine Hat Tigers. He also has eight game-winning goals this year, and the team’s last two game-winning goals.

Recent games

The Raiders have won their last two games, a 3-2 overtime victory over the CHL’s third-ranked team in the Winnipeg ICE Saturday, after a 5-3 road victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors. The Raiders also have four wins in their last six games.

The Hurricanes have won three of their last four, recently with a 5-4 overtime win over the Regina Pats.

Macho Mahon

Voice of the Raiders Rob Mahon will have the call of the game, with pregame coverage starting at 6:30 p.m.
