P.A. Winter Festival offering a slate of events on final weekend
The organizers of the Prince Albert Winter Festival are ready for an action-packed final weekend.
Tonight there will be a fireworks display at 8 p.m. at Prime Ministers Park. The public can watch from the Art Hauser Centre parking lot and the facility will be open for bathroom use and the canteen from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The Saskatchewan Sled Dog Championship races will also be happening on Saturday and Sunday on the south side of snow removal road. Races will begin at 11:30 a.m. both days and awards will follow on Sunday at the Alfred Jenkins Field House after the championships.
“The racers are very excited about being able to come out and the dogs are ready to go,” said Bev Erickson, president of the Prince Albert Winter Festival. “We have a new location this year. It’s just west of where the Rose Garden Hospice is going to be so the sled dog races will take off from there. We also have sled dog rides for people to enjoy while they’re waiting for the dogs to come back around.”
