COVID levels dropping in P.A. & rising in North Battleford: study

Feb 24, 2022 | 12:18 PM

COVID-19 levels are dropping in Prince Albert.

That’s according to the University of Saskatchewan which has been studying wastewater in the community, along with North Battleford and Saskatoon, to determine how prevalent the virus is.

In their weekly report, researchers note there was a nearly 64 per cent decrease in levels.

Around 77 per cent of the levels were the Omicron variant, while the Delta variant has become undetectable.

In North Battleford, the city’s weekly report shows a 40 per cent increase in levels.

Just like in P.A., the Omicron variant continues to be the main strain, however, it’s accounting for 86 per cent of the community’s volume.

The U of S researchers added each city may see changes in their active case totals, though it depends on whether people get tested and report their results to the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

Meanwhile, Saskatoon is seeing a roughly 98 per cent jump in levels.

Out of the three cities, North Battleford is currently seeing the highest volume of COVID in its wastewater, followed by P.A. and then Saskatoon.
