Know Your Stopping Distances in Winter

It takes much longer to stop on ice-covered and snow-packed roads.

o Slushy surfaces require twice the distance;
o Soft or loose snow takes three times the distance;
o Packed snow requires four times the distance; and
o Ice-covered roads can require up to 12 times the normal stopping distance.
