New Bears head coach adds some reinforcements to coaching staff
Bailey Habscheid cringes every time she comes to the Art Hauser Centre. Back in her Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League days, her Swift Current Wildcats were one win away from defeating the then-named Prince Albert A&W Bears in the 2008-09 league finals, before the Bears came back to win three straight games and win the title.
Now Habscheid is going to see that banner all the time as she’s joined the Prince Albert Northern Bears’ coaching staff as an assistant, alongside fellow-Bears newcomer Brad Rock.
“To see that banner kind of hurts me when I come to the rink every day,” Habscheid said. “But I’m hoping we can raise some banners this year, and in the future.”
Habscheid and Rock will both join the Bears’ bench as assistants alongside Curtis Olsen the now-head coach Steve Young, who replaced Jeff Willoughby after starting the year as an assistant.
