Province reports 60 new cases in northern zones, with 497 currently active

The provincial government reported 188 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday.

Of the new cases, 127 are among unvaccinated individuals, 49 of which are children between 0-11.

The new cases in Northern Saskatchewan are found in the Far North West (18), Far North East (three), North West (13), and North Central (26), for a total of 60.

No new deaths were reported Thursday. There have been 862 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 who have died.

There are currently 1,782 active cases in the province, an increase of 17 from yesterday. The total number of cases currently active in Northern Saskatchewan is at 497, seven more than on Wednesday.

There have been 78,262 confirmed cases since the pandemic began; 19,133 cases are from the North area (8,493 North West, 7,846 North Central, 2,794 North East).

More than one-quarter (26.1 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 11 or under.

Almost two-fifths (38.1 per cent) of new cases in those 12 years and older were fully vaccinated.

As of Thursday, a total of 214 people are in hospital including 49 in ICU. Of the 214 patients, 144 (67.3 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

In addition to Sask. ICUs, there are 24 patients in Ontario intensive care. As these patients are receiving care out of province, that number is not included in the hospitalization counts.

NITHA numbers

The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) reported 21 new cases in NITHA communities on Nov. 3; 10 (47 per cent) were unvaccinated, six (29 per cent) are partially vaccinated and five (24 per cent) were fully vaccinated.

There are 134 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities as of Nov. 3. These cases are found in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 0; Far North West, 43; Far North East, 41; North Central, 41; and North East, nine. There have been 6,686 cases (97 per cent) that have recovered, and 11 people are being hospitalized.

Athabasca Health Authority

There were once again no new cases to report in the Athabasca Health Authority (AHA). No new cases have been reported by the AHA since Oct. 5 and it has been over two weeks since any active cases were reported.
