Norman Russell Gardner (April 4, 1934 – Sept. 12, 2021) passed away peacefully at Hospice at Glengarda with family by his side.
Norman was born in Sidney, B.C. and grew up on a farm near Hershel, SK. His father passed away when Norm was 12, and the family moved to Saskatoon. Norman is survived by Eleanor, his loving wife of 65 years; his daughter Brenda (Bill) Grosskleg; grandson Brian (Jessica) Grosskleg; sisters Shirley (Bob) Chantry and Joan Parkins; brother-in-law, Bill (Shirley) Gibb, nieces and nephews. Norm is pre-deceased by his parents Allan Russell and Frances Marion (Crapser) Gardner.
Norm worked at National Research Council for 33 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed many sports: camping, canoeing, skiing, scuba diving, archery, hunting and travelled to Israel on an archeological dig. In retirement, Norm and Eleanor cruised many parts of the world.
There will be no funeral, at Norman’s request. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Hospice at Glengarda (St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation), or a charity or your choice.
Special thanks to Dr. M. Misfeldt, staff of St. Paul’s and City hospitals, Palliative Home Care, Hospice at Glengarda, Saskatoon Cancer Clinic, Prairie Hospice Society, as well as wonderful nurses and friends. Norm had the best of care from a great medical team.
