Rookie quarterback Jake Maier to make third straight start when Stampeders face Elks
CALGARY — Rookie Jake Maier will make a third straight start at quarterback Monday when the Calgary Stampeders host the Edmonton Elks.
Maier was listed atop Calgary’s depth chat at quarterback, ahead of Canadian Michael O’Connor, for Monday’s contest.
Earlier this week, incumbent Bo Levi Mitchell resumed practising with Calgary after being removed from the six-game injured list. The Stampeders put the two-time CFL MVP on the list last month after he was diagnosed with a fractured fibula.
Although Mitchell was a full participant in practice, he was placed on the one-game injured list for Monday’s contest.
