It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Mike Basaraba on August 30, 2021.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Lavina (Whitford); his only daughter, Paula (Dean) Stein; grandkids, Heidi and Joel; brother, Al (Earla); sister, Debbie (Don); brother-in-law, Walter; sister-in-law, Susan; in-laws, Audrey (David), Al, Gordie (Julie), Leona, Barry (Tamara); and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Emil & Hilda (Pat) Basaraba; brother, Neil; sister, Doris; niece, Rhonda; in-laws, Norman & Mary Whitford; brother-in-law, Bob; sister-in-law, Shelly.

Mike was born in Prince Albert on April 9, 1947. Through his life, he lived in the four western provinces, as well as in Germany and England. He met the love of his life Lavina 54 years ago in rural Prince Albert. Family was very important to Mike. He loved his only grandchildren, Heidi and Joel so much. They were the light of his world.

Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing. Anglin Lake was his favorite place and he spent many, many hours there. He taught himself to play guitar and spent hours practicing. He composed music, sang, and played at church. Mike had a deep faith, and his love for the Lord was his top priority.
