With the official start of their season now just a month away, the Prince Albert Raiders have made a big shift in their hockey operations department. The team announced today they were parting ways with director of player personnel Curt Brownlee.

“We thank Curt for his time as a Prince Albert Raider,” said Raiders General Manager Curtis Hunt. “He was a big part of our championship team and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.”

Replacing Brownlee is Bruno Zarrillo, a Winnipeg native and longtime scout with the Raiders. He played professional hockey for teams in Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. He won the Italian Championship in 1990, 1995, 1996, and 2004, and won a Spengler Cup with Kölner Haie in 1999.

Zarrillo’s also established an extensive career at the international level, playing over 200 games for the Italian national team over 11 World Championships and three Olympic games.

Zarrillo was also briefly a coach of the MJHL’s Winnipeg Saints before turning his attention to player development. He has been running his Bruno Zarrillo Hockey Academy camps for 15 years. On Oct. 1, 2009, he was inducted into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame. In 2011, Zarrillo joined the Raiders as a scout.

The Raiders have not made any further comment on the reason for the parting of ways with Brownlee.
