Summer months are wrapping up, which means the playground program is on its last legs and will be wrapping up after another fun-filled year.

This afternoon KidzFest, a free event is being held at Kinsmen Park from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

“We’ll have a main stage, and we’ll have entertainment walking throughout the park,” Curtis Olsen, sport and recreation manager told paNOW.

There will be a magic show, circus performers, and a hula-hoop show on the main stage. Throughout the park there will be many different games set up including a dunk tank and mini golf. Food and drink will also be available.

After not being able to hold KidzFest last year, they are expecting a very busy afternoon and are very excited to get things going.

“It is a very well attended event, we’re excited to see even more people out and about this year,” Olsen said. “Our playground program is a daily thing. We do have special events, but this is our big one. We put all our staff in Kinsmen Park, we bring all our games, and it’s an exciting day. Everyone is 100 per cent on board.”

Roger Boucher, a local magician will be performing on the main stage and says he is excited to have some fun and get the kids involved.

“I’m super excited to get on stage and get the kids excited about having some fun, and doing some magic. It’s been such a long time,” Boucher said.

There will be hand sanitizer at booths and food stations. Staff will be asked to do added cleaning at those locations. Social distancing will not be mandatory but will be encouraged.

One family who is taking part in the activities this year is the Daniels family. They say its great to see the games for the kids are free, and after not being around last year, it is nice to see again.

“We really like the hula-hoops, balloons, the face-painting, and the hot-dogs,” their girls said at KidzFest.
