Equine Gestalt coaching bringing light to clients’ lives

MAPLE CREEK, Sask. – Eight-year-old Jake has a special job.

He is part of the Equine Gestalt team at Conscious Effects just outside of Maple Creek.

Jake and Cali Brown help others on their journey to discover personal growth, overcome trauma, and to set new goals to move forward in life.

Healing is an emotional journey, her horses build powerful bonds with clients and not by riding them.

“And the horse helps me by giving support and guiding them to where they need to go,” Cali explained.

Cali has a passion for horses and helping people. She coaches clients through energy work.

Her horses like Jake, support and bring light to client’s unfinished business that may be holding them back.

“To help people plug back in to work on themselves as they journey through life because things are always coming up and building resilience,” Cali added.

Tami Reynolds is an Equine Gestalt client and works with Jake in the round pen.

She says the death of her father 14 years ago was still affecting her life many years later.

But Jake and Cali helped her move forward.

“I tend to overwhelm myself sometimes with too many duties and obligations so I found in ways in the arena he seems to know when you need support and he also knows when you need to be pushed a little too,” Tami said.

Cali says Jake also knows when to give extra support with a little nudge.

Fellow client Julie Redick noticed improvements right away when she began her personal healing journey a couple of years ago.

The intuitive pair helped Julie through a lot of changes in her life, including a big move from overseas back to her hometown.

“That’s what I like the most about equine therapy is it doesn’t have to take years and years of talking, it can happen just instantly,” Julie told CHAT News.

Cali says horses are highly sensitive, loving, and intelligent animals.

And with their positive traits, her clients are in a different place since when she started working with them.

“It’s been amazing, I feel like in the last two years I’ve been able to see the clients really transform from start to there’s no finish because it’s always a work in progress,” Cali said.

Cali adds Conscious Effects is expanding into Swift Current, Medicine Hat, and Calgary and have retreats coming up this summer.

The Healing Hills first annual retreat is at Cypress Hills on the east block. The five-day camping retreat includes equine gestalt coaching and workshops. That runs from July 5-9 and is currently full.

Conscious Effects also has a new retreat at Fairmont Chateau in Lake Louise from September 27-30. Cali says she is finalizing those plans.

“I think one of the main messages I want people to know is that they don’t have to stay stuck forever. The healing process is they can get there. And I just wanted to be the person who I needed as a kid so I hope to do that for people,” Cali added.
